The Book Trade Charity shortlisted for national charity award
The Book Trade Charity is excited to announce that it has been nominated by the ACO (Association for Charitable Organisations for the ‘Most Impactful Grant of the Year’ in the national ACO 2024 Annual Awards. This nomination reflects the charity’s significant impact supporting colleagues and their families in the book trade when crisis hits.
The charity tells ‘Peter’s Story’, an anonymised but very real example of a talented young publisher who is faced with potential homelessness. The Book Trade Charity worked with Peter to support him when escalating debts risked his home and the team are so grateful to Peter for sharing his story:
“Without The Book Trade Charity, I would have been made homeless with my mum and now I'm a homeowner; I'll never forget the speed with which they responded to me when I reached out, and how kind and empathetic they were. I would recommend The Book Trade Charity tenfold to anyone in the industry who feels like they are struggling, and they don't know where to turn - they changed my life for the better and I'll never forget it.”
